Tonight in one of the synagogues of Petah Tikva (Israel), which is located at 4 Wolfson Street, a Torah Scroll will be brought in honor of Alexander Abramovich Fridkis, the long-time gabbai of the synagogue “Golden Rose” and the manager of the religious Jewish community of Dnipro.
This event is timed to the 7th of Adar, the day of birth and passing away of Moshe Rabeinu, in which the employees of “Hevra Kadisha”, which in the revived Jewish community of Dnipro was created and headed by Alexander Fridkis for many years, celebrate their professional holiday.
In 2009 the Jewish TV program of Dnipro “Aleph” prepared a big story about Alexander Fridkis in honor of his 60th anniversary and we are glad to have the opportunity to show it to our readers exactly in connection with this important event, connecting Ukrainian Dnipro with the city of Petach-Tikva in the Holy Land.
We would like to remind you that the Scroll, which will be brought into the synagogue in Petah Tikva today, was written by Ukrainian soifers in memory of Alexander ben Avraham Friedkis, and is a gift of the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminetsky and the entire Jewish community of Dnipro. It is also a gift in honor of Lubov Andreevna Melnikova, Mikhail Yakovlevich Melnikov, Euphrosynia Nikolayevna Korol, Anatoliy Valentinovich Zaremba, and Ivan Grigorievich Korol.
