This year’s Purim celebration became a real, big family holiday for JBBBS students and their families.
Project manager Tetyana Kplunska told our website about how the holiday went: “The holiday began in our makeshift lobby – here everyone could try on a mask or complement their image with a carnival accessory. After the solemn greeting, everyone went to explore the festive locations that we had carefully prepared. Guests were waiting for: a beauty studio, where they could do bright makeup and hairstyles, face painting and temporary tattoos – for the most daring images, and even an arm wrestling competition – for those who like to test their strength.
The culmination of the holiday was a large costume parade, where everyone could show off their image and improvements made at our locations. And then – the main event of the evening: we started the Purim game! Volunteers and program leaders prepared a poetic performance that captivated all the spectators without exception – both adults and children. The atmosphere was complemented by invited artists from the Opera and Ballet Theater, who made the performance even brighter and more interesting with their singing and dancing performances. The audience saw off the artists with the same stormy ovations as in a real grand theater!
After the performance, we were greeted from Israel by the spiritual mentor of our program, Yan Lvovich Sidelkovsky. He shared the deep symbolism of Purim and invited everyone who wanted to join the weekly online Torah lessons on Zoom.
Well, what is a holiday without treats? It was both delicious and very heartfelt. After the banquet, we all played our traditional Purim Bingo together – the excitement was off the charts, but there could only be one winner! A warm atmosphere of unity, joy, and laughter reigned in the hall all evening. Everyone was delighted and are already looking forward to the next meetings of our big JBBBS family!
