The project of the Jewish community of Dnipro “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro”, which is being implemented with the support of STL, has begun actively preparing students for one of the main Jewish holy days – Passover.
Preparation for Pesach at DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro is comprehensive: the history of the holiday is reviewed, its laws and features are studied, and great attention is paid to the Seder, as students studying in the DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro program are preparing to be leaders of Seders, both public ones, which will be organized by the Dnipro Jewish Community, and private ones, in their family or among friends.
“The girls are currently studying the Passover Haggadah with Sheyna Smilyanskaya and these classes are very interesting and they really like them,” says the head of “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” Chaya Maltseva, “the boys are studying the peculiarities of the kashrut of this holiday with Yossi Nachshon, and other laws of the holiday with Yom-Tov Shufutinsky, whose course is generally called “Laws of Shabbat and Holidays.” But preparation for Pesach is not only theoretical in nature – at the “Jewish Home” classes, which are beloved by students, thanks to the sincere hospitality of Rebbetzin Shoshanna Weber, the girls have already undergone practical training in preparing kosher dishes specifically for Pesach, and it was a very exciting and useful experience for them.”
The students of “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” have theoretical and practical classes on koshering their homes and kitchens for Passover, and Haya Maltseva promised to tell us about how this will happen in the near future, because it will undoubtedly be very interesting.
