In the “Beit Sarah” project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, aimed at elderly women, a special gathering was held ahead of the first Shabbat after the end of Pesach.
Within the “Beit Sarah” project, twenty-eight women of the “golden age” meet twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to study Torah and Jewish traditions, discuss current Jewish issues, prepare for holidays, and take part in the life of the city’s Jewish community. Every Friday, they receive challahs to celebrate Shabbat at home and to spread the light of Yiddishkeit around them.
“Traditionally, we take a break for Pesach, a kind of holiday recess, but this year the women asked to continue the classes, believing that it brings closer peace, victory, and Geulah,” said the project’s teacher, Louiza Tsitsuashvili. “And on the eve of the Shabbat of the Torah portion ‘Shemini,’ we received a special gift from our Jewish community — ‘Shlissel Challahs,’ which is particularly meaningful for our participants in these challenging times.”
The project operates with the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro.
