Yom HaZikaron Commemorated at Dnipro Synagogue

At the central synagogue of Dnipro, “Golden Rose,” the community gathered to commemorate Yom HaZikaron — Israel’s Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorist attacks.

Yom HaZikaron is observed in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world on the eve of Yom HaAtzmaut — Israel’s Independence Day. A central moment of the day is the two-minute memorial siren that sounds at 10 a.m., during which people stand in solemn silence.

“For me, as an Israeli, it is very meaningful to mark this day in the Jewish community, where we pray daily for peace in both Ukraine and Israel,” said Roi Shabatov. “That’s why we stood by the flag, listened to the siren broadcast from Israel, and paused in silence to honor the memory of all those who gave their lives for the country’s independence and those lost to terror.”
