The Dnipro Jewish Community’s project “Beit Yoel” (Dnipro’s “Beit Chabad” for Israelis living and studying in the city) celebrated Lag BaOmer on the grounds of the “Toras Emes Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva-Ktana Ukraine.”
In addition to students — the regular participants of the program — the guests of the celebration organized by “Beit Yoel” included families of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s emissaries serving in the Dnipro Jewish community. The central traditional element of the event was a large bonfire, around which both adults and children joyfully danced and shared the festive spirit of Lag BaOmer.
A special children’s program featured the invited clown Gosha, who entertained the kids with games, contests, and prizes. The culinary highlight of the evening was, of course, grilled meat — as fire-cooked food is a classic Lag BaOmer tradition.
“On behalf of the entire ‘Beit Yoel,’ I would like to sincerely thank the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, and his son, Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki, for their care and support of our program — including this wonderful celebration. I would also like to thank Rabbis Yosef Glik, Shlomo Tereshkevich, and Eli Heifer for their warm hospitality at the ‘Tomchei Tmimim Dnipro’ campus,” said Rabbi Yaakov Dorfman, head of the “Beit Yoel” project. “And a special thanks goes to Mr. Lev Levayev for his continued support of ‘Beit Yoel’.”
