“Mesibat Chumash” in the Younger Group of the Yeshiva

A traditional highlight marking the end of the academic season for the youngest age group of the Dnipro Yeshiva named after Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson — the leading boys’ educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community — was the Mesibat Chumash celebration, held on the eve of Shavuot, the Festival of the Giving of the Torah.

Each student received a beautifully printed copy of the first book of the Chumash — Bereishit — presented with warm blessings by their mentor, Rabbi Shlomo Segal.
“The celebration was wonderfully organized by the children’s teacher, Leah Dorfman. Parents were present and sincerely thanked her, the entire yeshiva, and the Dnipro Jewish Community for the education and care given to their children,” shared the yeshiva’s director, Rebbetzin Chana Segal.

The children recited words of Torah, sang songs, and danced, leaving a powerful and joyous impression on everyone in attendance.
The highlight of the event was the appearance of a real sofer (scribe), Menachem Mendel Margolin, who not only demonstrated how mezuzot and tefillin are written but also inscribed each child’s name on parchment using the same special ink and script used to write a Sefer Torah.

The celebration concluded with a joyful dance of the fathers, who lifted their little ones on their shoulders, and a kosher treat — a large cake shaped like a Torah Scroll, which delighted both children and adults alike.
