At the Dnipro yeshiva named after Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the leading educational institution of the Jewish community of Dnipro for boys, a special program (mivtza) titled “Builders of the Temple” has been launched and will run until the end of the current academic year.
“This program is dedicated to studying the laws related to the Beit HaMikdash, because it is said that one who studies the laws of the Temple is considered as if he is actually building it,” explained the yeshiva’s principal, Rebbetzin Chana Segal. “As part of this initiative, each class will construct its own model of the Temple using special stones and components that the students will earn through lessons and events on this topic. The goal is for every child to contribute to building their class’s model and, in doing so, bring closer the coming of Moshiach and the speedy rebuilding of the Temple in our days!”
There will be two ways to earn the stones and components needed for model building:
– by passing short quizzes after daily study of the laws of Beit HaMikdash in class with their teacher;
– and by memorizing sections of the Mishnah tractate Midot.
Each boy has already received a booklet with the first perek (note: perek is the main structural unit of the text, equivalent to a “chapter”). Those who memorize this perek will receive materials for the model and a new booklet with the next perek. (In addition, their achievements will be counted toward points and medals as part of the Tzivos Hashem program.)
“We are deeply grateful to the Jewish community of Dnipro for making this wonderful learning experience possible for our children,” Rebbetzin Chana Segal emphasized. “We are confident that very soon we will present our models, which will bring great joy to the Rebbe and fill parents’ hearts with pride for their children.”
