A Summer Sunday with JBBBS

On Sunday, the participants of the JBBBS (Jewish Big Brothers\Big Sisters) program of the Jewish Community of Dnipro gathered for a traditional summer meetup in Lazar Globa Park. Children and teens, accompanied by volunteers, enjoyed a day full of games, attractions, and kosher ice cream.

“It wasn’t just a walk — it was a real event for the kids in the program: new friendships, joyful communication, mutual support, team spirit, and unforgettable memories.

During these gatherings, we get a break from school routines and dive into the carefree world of true childhood. After all, childhood doesn’t end as long as there’s laughter and real friends nearby! The younger kids gravitate toward the older ones, volunteers care for everyone — and this mutual trust creates a warm atmosphere where each child feels valued and happy,” shares project coordinator Tetyana Kaplunska.

The JBBBS program is supported by the Jewish Community of Dnipro, Chief Rabbi of the city Shmuel Kaminezki, and the Jewish Community of Greater Boston (USA), which has been a long-time partner of the initiative.

The next meetups will continue to be held on Sundays. For more information or to join: +38 068 480 30 52 (Natalia).
