A Special Lesson for the Month of Tammuz in the “Jewish Home” Project

In the women’s project “Jewish Home” of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, led by Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki, a special session was held focusing on the key events of the Jewish calendar during the month of Tammuz.

The lesson was organized by the project’s initiator and coordinator, Chaya Prasolova, who created a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. The special guest of the evening was Zivi Smilyanska, who gave a historical overview of the significant dates of this month. Participants reflected on the 3rd of Tammuz — the day when the soul of the great tzaddik, the Leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, departed from this world; and also on the 12th and 13th of Tammuz — the birthday and liberation of the Sixth Rebbe, Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, from Soviet imprisonment, symbolizing the triumph of the Jewish spirit over totalitarian darkness. Special attention was given to the upcoming 17th of Tammuz — a fast day marking the beginning of the Three Weeks of Mourning for the destruction of the Temples and a time for deep personal introspection.

“Tammuz is not just a series of dates — it’s a call to awaken, to spiritual awareness, and to growth. On the 3rd of Tammuz, we reflect on the Rebbe’s legacy and his teachings, which continue to guide us today. The 12th and 13th are days of liberation, teaching us that even when darkness seems impenetrable, the light of truth can prevail. And the 17th is a moment to pause, to reevaluate our path, and begin inner renewal,” shared project coordinator Chaya Prasolova.

A special segment of the lesson, led under the attentive guidance of Tzipora Nachshon, focused on studying the morning blessings from the Siddur. This gave the participants an opportunity not only to deepen their understanding of the texts but also to experience their strength as a daily source of inspiration.

“With the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro and its spiritual leader, Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, the participants of the ‘Jewish Home’ project are able to grow spiritually, deepen their knowledge, and with each lesson, build a stronger connection to Torah, tradition, and their Jewish identity,” concluded Chaya Prasolova.
