Children’s Program of the Second Session of the “Gan Levi Yitzchak” Summer Retreat

The children’s program held during the second session of the “Gan Levi Yitzchak” retreat — organized by the Jewish Community of Dnipro at the luxurious and comfortable Kohavi Forest Club, located in a picturesque and environmentally pristine area on the banks of the Samara River — continues in the same vibrant and engaging format as the first session. The retreat is designed for families of the Rebbe’s Shluchim serving in Dnipro, as well as for other observant families.

The program for children of various age groups is run by a team of madrichot under the leadership of Sheina Segal. This session’s team includes Esty Segal, Fania Gaysinskaya, and Rosa Nachshon — young emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe who have created an exciting, colorful, and enriching experience. Their well-rounded curriculum features engaging activities, educational games, quizzes, competitions, and a wide range of creative workshops.

One of the most popular activities among the children was the pottery workshop — an ancient and beautiful craft. Just like the Jews of old, the children began by preparing the clay and then worked on pottery wheels to shape it into decorative and functional items. Although a hairdryer was used instead of a traditional kiln to finish the pieces, it did nothing to lessen the excitement and satisfaction the children felt as they turned natural material into art.

Another highlight — and already a “signature” workshop of the Gan Levi Yitzchak retreat — was the colorful challah braiding session. This hands-on activity was not only creative and fun, but also highly practical. The girls learned various braiding techniques that they will surely use in the future when baking challah for Shabbat in their own homes.

Throughout the children’s program, participants earn points and rewards for completing tasks, answering quiz questions, and participating in games and competitions. These points contribute to their standing in the international Jewish children’s organization “Tzivos Hashem.” Later, the points can be exchanged for gifts and souvenirs at the final event, “The Store”, a festive marketplace that will serve as the joyful conclusion of the children’s program at Gan Levi Yitzchak.
