A Celebration of Joy, Color, and Care: Colorful Ice Cream Day at the “Gan Levi Yitzchak” Retreat

At the wonderful “Gan Levi Yitzchak” retreat — a charitable project of psychological and social rehabilitation organized by the Jewish Community of Dnipro in cooperation with JMC — a special Colorful Ice Cream Day took place for the families of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s emissaries working in Dnipro, as well as other observant families. The retreat is held at the luxurious and comfortable Kohavi Forest Club, located in a picturesque, eco-friendly area on the banks of the Samara River.

One of the most vibrant (and, without exaggeration, tastiest) events of the summer was the themed Colorful Ice Cream Day — a true family celebration filled with joy, laughter, and color. Both children and adults enthusiastically participated in the event, the highlight of which was the kosher ice cream called “Svetofor” (Traffic Light). Not only was it delicious, but each color of the ice cream sparked smiles, emotions, childlike joy, and a sense of lightness. This year, the theme of color runs throughout the retreat’s program — from creative art lessons using textured paste techniques to braiding multicolored challahs in preparation for Shabbat.

In addition to fun and games, the retreat offers deep, meaningful lessons on a wide range of topics. Children of different ages study under the guidance of talented madrichot: Sheina and Esti Segal, Fania Gaysinskaya, and Malka Brez. For women, a special class was led by Sheina Smilyanskaya, a teacher from the “Chaya Mushka” institute.

“Our retreat is nearing its end, with just a few days left. We’re doing everything we can to make each of them not just a pleasant memory, but a true source of strength and warmth for a long time,” says retreat director Leah Brez. “I’d like to remind everyone that this retreat is a charitable project of psychological and social rehabilitation held in cooperation with JMC, made possible thanks to the Jewish Community of Dnipro and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
