Throughout the month of Elul, at every meeting of the “Beit Sara” project of the Dnipro Jewish Community for elderly women, led by the renowned activist of Jewish revival Louise Tsitsuashvili, a solemn shofar-blowing ceremony takes place.
This ceremony is held every Tuesday and Thursday by a great friend of the “Beit Sara” project, Rabbi Shmuel Livshits, who uses the moving sounds of the shofar to awaken every heart to teshuvah (repentance) and to help participants feel a special closeness to the Almighty during this exceptional period of preparation for the holiday of Rosh HaShanah.
“We are very grateful to the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki for the opportunity to hold such soulful and meaningful meetings and classes twice a week,” says “Beit Sara” director Louise Tsitsuashvili. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Rabbi Shmuel Livshits, who made the commendable decision to blow the shofar throughout the entire month of Elul, helping every woman in our project draw closer to the Almighty and correct what needs to be corrected this month, so that the coming year may be sweet and good for each of them, and so that every woman may be inscribed in the Book of Life, Health, and Prosperity.”
