Jewish Community of Dnipro Releases Calendars for the Year 5786

On the eve of the new year 5786, the Office of the Jewish Community of Dnipro has presented its traditional calendars – large wall calendars and convenient desktop flip editions. They include the schedule of Shabbat, holiday, and fast times for our city, making the calendar a true guide for the entire year. The epigraph of this edition features a profound thought from the Lubavitcher Rebbe: “Bitachon is the ability to remain calm on the journey, even if the map is not yet clear. For the Driver is G-d Himself”

The wall calendar, as always, is in A1 format, and both calendars are traditionally distributed free of charge among Jewish organizations in Dnipro, community activists, and congregants of the “Golden Rose” synagogue. This year, a Ukrainian version of this useful publication has also been released.

The calendar’s particular convenience lies in its structure: each week includes the exact candle-lighting times for Shabbat and holidays, notes the weekly Torah portions, and marks days with commentaries providing brief explanations of rituals and service specifics. The start and end times of Shabbat and holidays are given according to the opinion of the Alter Rebbe, the founder of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. Additionally, the calendar includes contact details for the central “Golden Rose” synagogue, making it a practical reference guide as well.

The commentaries included in the publication help easily navigate the prayer order: days when “Tachanun” is not recited, when the “Mussaf” prayer is added, when a full or half “Hallel” is recited, and other important liturgical details are marked.

The calendar is dedicated to the blessed memory of Zechariah ben Shmuel Kamenetsky, who passed away on the 13th of Sivan 5738, and Naftula Chai bat Pinchas Kamenetsky, who passed away on the 20th of Tevet 5769, by their son and grandson Shlomo ben Zechariah and Zechariah ben Shlomo Kamenetsky, the patrons of this calendar’s publication. May their souls be bound in the bundle of life.
