The construction of sukkahs for the Sukkot holiday has been completed in the Dnipro Jewish Community. Sukkot is one of the most joyful and beautiful Jewish holidays, beginning this very evening. The atmosphere of preparation is felt everywhere, as Sukkot is a time of joy, unity, and gratitude.
As every year, the largest and most ceremonial sukkah is set up in the inner courtyard of the Central “Golden Rose” Synagogue. Holiday meals, uniting hundreds of community members, will be held here. Another spacious sukkah is located on the open area of the “Menorah” Center, as well as near the city’s Jewish organizations.
Residents of the Left Bank will be able to celebrate Sukkot in a cozy sukkah built near the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly. Furthermore, dozens of sukkahs have been installed throughout Dnipro – near the “Altershil” Synagogue, in the boys’ boarding school, in courtyards, and even on the balconies of private homes. Thanks to the support of the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki, and the activity of the community members, the Sukkot holiday has truly encompassed the entire city.
For eight days of Sukkot, a special mitzvah is observed – to eat meals specifically in the sukkah. This serves as a reminder of how the Almighty protected the Jewish people during their wanderings in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt. Another important mitzvah of the holiday is to take the “Four Species” – the lulav, etrog, hadas, and aravah – which symbolize the unity of the Jewish people.
Lulavs and etrogs have already been delivered to Dnipro – they can be purchased at the “Judaica” store located in the gallery on the first floor of the “Menorah” Center (entrance from 4 Sholom-Aleichem Street).
