A series of events dedicated to Rosh Chodesh Kislev and its main historical significance—namely, the miraculous recovery of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1977—took place at the “Beit Zindlicht” Children’s Educational Center, the main preschool institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community.
The events were held by age groups, and the children learned about the story of this day through vivid storytelling, simple explanations, and themed creative tasks. The students heard about how Jews around the world rejoiced when the Rebbe first appeared before the chassidim after a difficult period of illness, discussed the meaning of gratitude, and sang nigunim, creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy.
In each group, the deep meanings of Rosh Chodesh Kislev were discussed extensively—the power of Jewish unity and how every person can bring their own “light of Kislev” into the world through good deeds and care for others. The games focused heavily on themes of health and medicine, and the culmination of the events in each group was a children’s farbrengen, which took place with great spiritual elevation.
“We want the children to feel the special joy of Rosh Chodesh Kislev and understand that this important day is connected to a miracle that inspires us,” said Risha Gurevich, Director of “Beit Zindlicht.” “This day reminds us annually of the power of unity, prayer, and connection with the Rebbe, whose recovery became a symbol of hope for Jews worldwide. We strive to ensure that such moments fill their hearts with kindness and gratitude.”
