A unique lesson dedicated to the theme of Shabbat and the practical aspects of preparing for this most important day of the Jewish week was held for the first-grade students of the “Chaya-Mushka” Mahon, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls.
Morah Dvora Neumann decided to conduct a special workshop, focusing not so much on theoretical questions, but rather on giving each student the opportunity to share with her friends the specifics of their family’s preparation for Shabbat and the welcoming of the Shabbat Queen.
“The girls arrived in their Shabbat clothes, very elegant and excited, knowing that this lesson would be special,” shared Morah Edna Yudovich. “They prepared salads together, talked about how their families prepare for this day each week, shared their feelings associated with Shabbat, participated in a quiz, and finally, like one big family, they conducted a model first-grade Shabbat, which they will tell their loved ones about at the Shabbat table on Friday evening in many homes of our dear Dnipro Jewish Community.”
