An emotional and joyous celebration took place at the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Yeshiva Katan, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for boys, dedicated to an important stage in the learning journey of its first-grade students: the completion of learning the letters and the first two vowels of the Hebrew alphabet and the beginning of conscious Jewish reading.
This day became a true event for the yeshiva’s youngest students. The boys completed their study of the letters and the first two vowels, taking their first confident steps into the world of Hebrew reading. The festive program was structured in a playful and engaging format, allowing the children not only to demonstrate the knowledge they had gained but also to feel the joy of the learning process itself.
A special atmosphere for the celebration was created by Morah Leah Dorfman, the homeroom teacher of the first graders, who prepared various games and tasks for the students. She helped the children, through movement, participation, and lively interaction, to feel the significance of the learning material even more deeply. Thanks to this, the celebration turned out warm, vibrant, and truly unforgettable, and the children received genuine pleasure and an emotional response from everything that took place.
“For us, it is extremely important that a child’s first steps in learning Hebrew reading are connected with joy, interest, and a sense of the value of what they are learning,” said the director of the yeshiva katan, Rabbanit Chana Segal. “It is precisely at this age that the attitude towards Torah, towards learning, and towards one’s own Jewish identity is formed. We sincerely thank the Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki for the constant support, care, and attention to the development of Jewish education, which provides our children with a strong and bright foundation for life.”
