A ceremonial presentation of tefillin to a congregant of the synagogue, Herschon Afanewich, took place in the main prayer hall of the central synagogue “The Golden Rose.” It was conducted by Rabbi Reuven Milman and Aba Nechemia Vogel, with the aim of strengthening motivation in drawing closer to Torah and mitzvahs in the light of Chassidic teaching.
“Herschon Afanewich is my mekurav (student) – a person who is on the path of drawing closer to Torah, already has a connection with the community, is interested in Chassidic teaching, and, with G-d’s help, will achieve the status of a Baal Teshuva in the near future,” recounts Rabbi Reuven Milman. “Now, thanks to the generous gift from Reb Aba Nechemia Vogel, a friend of Mendel Kaminezki, who recently visited our city, my student has the opportunity to put on his own tefillin every weekday. I am confident this will bring Herschon Afanewich even closer to Yiddishkeit, facilitate his coming to Torah, Chuppah, and good deeds. And for Aba Nechemia Vogel, this will become a great merit in spreading the light of Chassidus to hasten the coming of the righteous Moshiach.”
