Major Purim Food Distribution Campaign by JRNU in Dnipro Jewish Community

A large-scale distribution of substantial food packages for the Purim holiday, provided by the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine charitable organization, took place in the Dnipro Jewish Community. This distribution served as vital support for those in particular need during these challenging times.

Recipients primarily included vulnerable categories – internally displaced persons, families with young children, low-income individuals, religious families, and other community members in need. For them, it is important not only to receive food assistance but also to experience Purim with a sense of care and support.

Each family received two large bags of food products. These included kosher chicken, milk and condensed milk, sugar, apple juice, vegetable oil, mayonnaise and ketchup, rice, buckwheat, pasta and oatmeal, canned corn, tea and coffee, as well as sweets and snacks – parve gingerbread, oatmeal cookies, bread rings, and chips. This substantial support significantly eased household budgets and enabled families to prepare a festive table.

Additionally, families received a separate gift box for fulfilling the mitzvah of mishloach manos. It contained chips, cookies, grape juice, traditional hamantaschen, and a toy gragger, ensuring that both children and adults could fully participate in the celebration and fulfill the Purim mitzvos.

The distribution was organized at convenient locations within the Dnipro Jewish Community, with home delivery provided for those with mobility challenges. Thus, the holiday reached the homes of those most in need, enabling everyone to celebrate Purim with dignity and a sense of community unity and care.

“Thanks to the support of the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine, many families received not only food assistance but also the opportunity to properly prepare for Purim and fulfill its mitzvos,” noted Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki. “Such support strengthens a person’s connection to the community and helps everyone feel that they are remembered and cared for in our united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community. On behalf of all the Jews of our city, the entire leadership of the Jewish community, and its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, I wish to express deep gratitude to JRNU for everything they do to develop Jewish life, for their support of educational programs and Jewish revival initiatives, and for ensuring that many Jewish families will experience abundant Purim joy through such care and support.”
