MYPURIM – An Interactive Purim Guide for the Whole Family

A new interactive application, MYPURIM, has become available for the Purim holiday – an educational project for the entire family, created by Rabbi Reuven Greenberg with the participation of the Russian-speaking Jewish community of Vienna. The app combines the study of Purim traditions, Chassidus, Halachah, the text of Megillas Esther, music, and game elements, creating a comprehensive digital space that allows for deep, meaningful, and joyful preparation for the holiday.

The MYPURIM project is conceived as a modern interactive guide that integrates knowledge and experience. The app features a “Dvar Malchus” section with the opportunity to study the Rebbe’s sicha on the inner meaning of Purim, as well as quizzes with three levels of difficulty. A “Halachah” section presents the holiday’s relevant laws, structured for convenient study and knowledge testing, along with the complete text of Megillas Esther. Unique photographs of the Rebbe Maharash’s personal Megillah are a special highlight, offering a tangible connection to the great tradition through visual engagement.

An interactive component holds a special place. For children, there are Purim games – “Dreidel,” “Hangman,” and “Spiral” – as well as a digital gragger that can be used during the Megillah reading. For adults, a humorous “alcohol tester,” created in the spirit of Purim, has been added. A built-in music player with festive niggunim helps set the appropriate mood, while a tzedakah section allows users to fulfill the mitzvah directly through the app.

MYPURIM is available in four languages – Ukrainian, German, English, and Hebrew – as well as in bilingual modes, making it convenient for families that use multiple languages in their daily communication. An important technical feature is its offline capability, allowing the app to be used even without an internet connection.

The conceptual foundation of the project is the idea of the Almighty’s hidden presence in the Purim events. Megillas Esther is the only book in Tanach in which G-d’s name is not mentioned even once, and this very fact underscores the main lesson of the holiday: to see G-d where He is concealed. Behind randomness, Divine providence is revealed; behind masquerade, truth; behind laughter, deep faith.

“We wanted to create a tool that combines tradition with a modern format, so that Purim becomes not just a day of merrymaking, but also a day of meaningful study,” says Rabbi Reuven Greenberg. “When knowledge, music, games, and the fulfillment of mitzvos come together in one space, the holiday is experienced more deeply, and its inner light becomes more accessible to every family member.”
