During the joyous days of Purim, a large-scale “Mivtzoim Purim 5786” campaign took place in the Dnipro Jewish Community, aimed at spreading the joy of the holiday and helping every Jew fulfill the primary mitzvos of Purim. Campaign participants strove to ensure that as many people as possible could hear the Megillah reading and experience the atmosphere of this special day.
Students, madrichim, and faculty members from the prestigious international educational institution “Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva Ktana Ukraine” – where future rabbis and leaders of Jewish communities around the world study – took part in the campaign. They visited dozens of homes of elderly and mobility-impaired community members to personally read the Megillah for them. For many families, these visits were a true holiday gift, as those who have difficulty leaving their homes were given the opportunity to fulfill the important mitzvah of Purim and feel the community’s care. Each recipient was also presented with festive mishloach manos.
As part of this campaign, additional Megillah readings were also held in many Jewish institutions. At the “Golden Rose” Synagogue, additional readings were organized every hour. Campaign participants also read the Megillah at the “Alter Shil” Synagogue on Kotsyubynsky Street, as well as at the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly and many other community structures, where numerous Jews were able to participate. Everything was done to ensure that everyone who wished could join and fulfill this important mitzvah.
“The campaign was led by madrichim of ‘Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva Ktana Ukraine,’ Yosef Brand and Yanky Kot, and the young men who read the Megillah beautifully were especially outstanding – Avichai Marentz, Mendy Neumann, Mendy Stambler, Shimshon Furlander, and David Maltsev. The community expresses its deep gratitude to them,” emphasized Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki. “On behalf of the community, the campaign was coordinated by Ilana Esther Shpolyanska-Khanelis. I am pleased to thank all the participants on behalf of the community leadership for their Chassidic energy and willingness to share the joy of Purim with others. I want to note that such a significant, important, and beautifully organized campaign was made possible thanks to the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
