Overview of the March Issue of “Shabbat Shalom” Newspaper No. 3 (398) / 2026

The March issue of the “Shabbat Shalom” newspaper – the third edition of 2026 – reflects the dynamic and multifaceted life of the Dnipro Jewish Community. Its eight pages feature reports on major communal events, analytical articles, educational projects, historical publications, and a chronicle of social work.

The first page opens with the article “Shabbaton for Shluchim and Shluchos,” dedicated to the large-scale forum of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s shluchim from 16 cities of Ukraine, which took place in Dnipro. The program included strategic discussions, security seminars, an educational initiatives fair, and the festive completion of a Sefer Torah for Mykolaiv. Special attention was given to the women’s and children’s programs.

The second page features the traditional column “The Path to the Almighty,” with a weekly review of Torah portions by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki. The focus is on the portions of Beshalach, Yitro, Mishpatim, and Terumah and their contemporary relevance. Also published here is a piece marking the 24th anniversary of the Beit Baruch Home for the Elderly, detailing the festive concert and updated living conditions, as well as a report by Veronika Shlaina, “The Solemn Day of Yud Shevat,” about the grand farbrengen at the Menorah Center dedicated to 10 Shevat.

The third page is united under the heading “Chesed Menachem: A Kaleidoscope of Events.” Readers will find reports on Holocaust Memorial Day activities within the “Cinema Therapy” project, materials on psychological support and resilience, the “Shabbat Shira” gathering at the “Freilachs” club, a lecture on Margaret Thatcher in the “Great Women” project, vocal practices using the “Vocal Toning” method, Tu BiShvat celebrations, the Jewish Game youth activity, as well as publications on the foundation’s social and medical programs.

The fourth page, under the heading “Community Life,” reports on the New Year for Trees at Machon Chaya-Mushka, the JBBBS program and the Solomonika JCC, and the farbrengen in honor of the yahrzeit of Chaya Mushka Schneerson at our community’s Machon named after her.

On the fifth page: a major feature, “The First Lady of Chabad,” dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Chaya Mushka Schneerson, along with two short pieces about events commemorating her yahrzeit.

The sixth page returns readers to the theme of memory – here one finds an obituary for Semen Gluzman and a historical essay by Oleksandr Bystriakov, “The Bielski Brothers.” Also included is a short piece by Veronika Shlaina about “Menorah Community.”

The seventh page contains a summary of an episode of the “Menorah” YouTube channel featuring Volodymyr Shkolnik and a note about a meeting within the “New Me” intensive program.

The eighth page, as always, concludes the issue with traditional birthday and anniversary greetings, announcements, and anecdotes.
