An educational and fun event dedicated to International Pi Day took place at the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The initiative and organization came from the students of the 6-A grade, who prepared a special program for the younger students as part of their educational project.
During the gathering, elementary school students embarked on a fascinating journey into the world of mathematics and became acquainted with the mysterious number Pi. The sixth-graders shared interesting facts about Pi, prepared mathematical games, quizzes, and interactive tasks, making complex mathematical concepts understandable and exciting.
The uniqueness of the event lay in the fact that it was entirely prepared by the 6-A grade students themselves. Acting as researchers and mentors for the younger students, they endeavored to explain mathematical ideas in simple and accessible language, transforming the introduction to science into an interesting and captivating adventure. The celebration gave all participants a good mood, new knowledge, and once again proved that mathematics can be an engaging, creative, and truly fascinating science.
“Such student initiatives are especially valuable because they help younger students see mathematics from a new perspective and experience the joy of discovery,” noted Svitlana Romenska, Deputy Director of the Jewish Lyceum. “We are sincerely grateful for the initiative, preparation, and execution of the event to the students of the 6-A grade and their teacher-mentor Iryna Shuleshko, who created an atmosphere of creativity and interest in knowledge at the lyceum. We also express special thanks for the constant support of our educational institution to the Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
