On the eve of the Pesach holiday and the preparations for it, our website is pleased to present to its readers a video excerpt from an address by the Leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson. In it, he speaks in Russian about the civic and spiritual feat of his father – the Chief Rabbi of Yekaterinoslav-Dnipropetrovsk, Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.
The Rebbe recounts that period in his father’s life when the Soviet regime sought to prevent Jews from observing their traditions, especially Pesach. Levi Yitzchak openly and courageously stood up to the entire totalitarian machine and managed to force the authorities to make significant concessions – allowing him and his representatives to organize the production of matzah, kosher for Pesach.
The archival recording of the Rebbe’s address is accompanied by a specially selected video sequence featuring footage from the Soviet period. We invite all our readers to watch this video.
