Preparing for Pesach! Students of Beit Zindlicht Visit the Matzah Bakery

At the “Beit Zindlicht” Children’s Educational Center, the leading early childhood institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, an excursion took place to the renowned Dnipro matzah bakery “Tiferet Matzot,” where students from the middle and older groups had the opportunity to learn about the production process of matzah shmurah – handmade matzah.

During the excursion, the children observed all stages of matzah preparation, which are performed by hand in strict accordance with the requirements of Jewish law. They saw how dough is mixed from flour and water, how it is divided into portions, rolled into thin circles, perforated, and baked in a scorching hot oven within seconds, transforming into matzah, which for millennia has remained the enduring symbol of the Pesach holiday.

The children were particularly impressed by the direct encounter with this process, which allowed them not only to see but also to feel the importance of preparing for one of the key holidays of the Jewish calendar. The excursion became an important part of the educational process, helping the students, through personal experience, to connect with traditions and better understand the meaning of the upcoming Pesach.

“For our students, this was not merely an introduction to matzah production, but a genuine immersion into the atmosphere of Pesach preparation,” noted Naomi Chaya Yavorska, an educator at Beit Zindlicht. “Such excursions help children from an early age to appreciate the significance of Jewish traditions and become an important part of the educational process, implemented with the support of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
