Yeshiva Ktana Performs “Birkas Ilanos” Near Flowering Trees

At the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Yeshiva Ktana, the leading educational institution for boys of the Dnipro Jewish Community, a special event took place dedicated to the performance of the traditional “Birkas Ilanos” blessing, recited during the month of Nissan upon seeing flowering fruit trees.

Together with their teachers, the students went out to the trees covered in spring blossoms to perform this special annual mitzvah associated with the days of the month of Nissan. For the yeshiva students, this was an important part of meticulous observance of Jewish tradition, where the study of laws and customs is accompanied by their timely fulfillment according to the calendar.

Each student received the text of the blessing, after which the boys recited together words of gratitude to the Almighty for the beauty of His world, for the renewal of nature, and for the opportunity to see the manifestation of Divine goodness in the world around them. The mentors reminded the students of the profound meaning of this custom, which teaches a person to notice the wonders of creation and to approach them with gratitude and attentiveness.

The performance of “Birkas Ilanos” was a joyful and inspiring event for the students, filling the day with an atmosphere of spring renewal, spiritual elevation, and unity.

“It is especially important for the yeshiva students that the study of Torah be accompanied by the precise and timely fulfillment of what it teaches,” noted Rebbetzin Chana Segal, director of the Yeshiva Ktana. “Such moments help cultivate an attentive approach to each mitzvah and a feeling of personal connection to Jewish tradition. We sincerely thank the Dnipro Jewish Community, under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, for their constant support of the Jewish education of the younger generation.”
