The holiday of Lag BаOmer, the 33rd day of the Omer count, associated with the yahrzeit of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and the cessation of the plague among Rabbi Akiva’s students, was celebrated brightly and with special Chassidic joy at the “Beit LeBanot” boarding school – a unique social institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community where girls receive not only education but also care, attention, and the atmosphere of a true home.
One of the central moments of the celebration was the time around the bonfire – the participants danced in circles, sang songs dedicated to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and this gave them a deep inner feeling of the holiday’s atmosphere, connecting historical events with the sincere joy of connecting to the light of Torah and Yiddishkeit.
The celebration continued with a festive treat that added to the day’s atmosphere – the girls roasted marshmallows over the fire, enjoyed chips and sweets, chatted, and spent time together, creating a warm and friendly space.
“For our girls, Lag BаOmer became a truly special day, filled with joy and meaning,” says Rina Averbukh, madricha of the “Beit LeBanot” boarding school. “Such holidays not only create a good mood but also provide an opportunity to experience the Chassidic tradition, to learn to rejoice in the fulfillment of mitzvos, and to feel part of the large and friendly Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
