Lag B’Omer 5786: Celebration in the STARS Program

In the youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro,” implemented with the support of STL, the holiday of Lag B’Omer was traditionally celebrated in the format of a family party in an atmosphere of unity and Chassidic joy.

With the onset of the holiday, the program’s students gathered to welcome Lag B’Omer in the courtyard of IHPI “Beit Chana.” At the initiative of Nathan and Leah Lazarev, who served as welcoming hosts and direct organizers, a bonfire was lit. The participants shot arrows from bows, chatted, enjoyed barbecue, as well as marshmallows roasted over the fire, and spent the evening in an informal atmosphere where everyone could feel part of the large STARS family.

On the day of Lag B’Omer itself, the students of “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” took a very active part in the large community celebration at the Menorah Center – they participated in the parade and worked at various locations, becoming an important part of the large-scale event of the entire Dnipro Jewish Community.

“It is very important to us that the students celebrate Lag B’Omer together, as one big family,” says Chaya Maltseva, director of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” program. “Not only do they spend time in a warm atmosphere, but they also actively participate in the life of the community, taking part in its key events. We are glad that we can give back and help, not only receive the love and attention, care and support from our large and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
