Following the thematic Week of Flowers and Houseplants, during which the students explored the wonderful world of flora, a special day dedicated to domestic animals was held at the “Beit Zindlicht” Children’s Educational Center, the leading early childhood institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. In this way, the children continued their exploration of the world around them, discovering the richness of the fauna and learning to care for all living creatures created by the Almighty.
A true surprise for the children was the arrival of unusual guests – a goat, ducklings, and tiny chicks. The students observed the animals with great interest, learned about their characteristics, watched the goat being milked, and observed with genuine curiosity how the chicks ate.
The most joyful part of the encounter was the tactile interaction with the animals. The children were able to feed and water their little guests themselves, showing attention, care, and responsibility. This experience allowed each child to feel that even the simplest kind acts help care for living creatures and make the world a better place.
Such activities help children not only broaden their understanding of the world around them but also cultivate respect for all of the Almighty’s creatures, developing kindness, empathy, and a readiness to care for those in need of human attention.
“When a child can not only see an animal in a picture but also touch it, feed it, and care for it, knowledge becomes a personal experience that stays with them for a long time,” noted kindergarten educator Naomi Chaya Yavorska. “It is precisely such encounters that help children from an early age learn responsibility, kindness, and respect for all living things. This attitude toward the world created by the Almighty is an important part of Jewish education, which we strive to instill in our students within the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
