The Jewish Lyceum No. 144 named after Levi Yitzchak Schneerson—a leading educational institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro—proudly announces a new significant achievement by its student: Vladyslava Rekhlis won a bronze medal in the junior women’s judo competition at the 22nd World Maccabiah, held in Israel.
What makes Vladyslava’s achievement especially meaningful is that she was the only junior athlete representing Ukraine in judo. Competing confidently at one of the premier sporting events of the Jewish world, the Dnipro Jewish Lyceum student brought home a bronze medal for the “Maccabi-Ukraine” team and made a significant contribution to the overall success of the Ukrainian delegation.
The World Maccabiah is the largest international sporting forum of the Jewish world. This year, it brought together over eight thousand athletes from some 55 countries, competing in 45 sports. Participation in such a large-scale competition demands not only high athletic skill but also great inner composure, perseverance, and a readiness to represent one’s country and Jewish community with dignity.
“We are truly proud of Vladyslava, who represented Ukraine, our lyceum, and the Jewish Community of Dnipro with honor at such a significant international sporting forum,” said Lyceum Director Olena Krasnova. “Her bronze medal is evidence not only of her high athletic skill but also of her strength of character, perseverance, and ability to confidently pursue her goals. This victory is yet another confirmation that the educational environment of the Jewish Lyceum fosters the comprehensive development of its students, supporting their pursuit of excellence not only in academics but also in sports, creativity, and community involvement.
