Another men’s Torah class at the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which has been actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislina family, was dedicated to the weekly portion of Eikev and the holiday of the 15th of Av, as well as the spiritual lessons that help a man make sound decisions and consciously build his life in accordance with the values of the Torah.
The speaker for the gathering was the Deputy Secretary of the Dnipro Rabbinical Court, Rabbi Avraham Yosef Yitzchak Karshenbaum, who offered the participants a detailed study of Parshas Eikev, revealing the significance of seemingly minor mitzvos and their impact on a person’s spiritual life. Special attention was given to why careful observance of “minor” mitzvos can become a source of great blessing and transform a person’s life path.
During the lesson, the participants discussed the practical lessons of Parshas Eikev, reflecting on how the Torah helps a man make the right moral choices daily, take responsibility for his actions, and see the profound meaning even in those mitzvos that sometimes receive insufficient attention.
A separate topic of the gathering was the significance of the 15th of Av—one of the most joyful days on the Jewish calendar. The participants spoke about why it is precisely after a period of trial that a time of joy arrives, what spiritual meaning this day carries, and how its lessons help a man maintain hope, strengthen his faith, and look to the future with confidence.
“The study of Parshas Eikev and reflections on the meaning of the 15th of Av help men to more deeply understand that spiritual life is built not only from major decisions but also from daily faithfulness to mitzvos, attentive awareness of one’s actions, and a constant striving for spiritual growth,” said Levi Zislina, director of the “Menorah Community” project. “It is through the study of Torah and the effort to apply its lessons in everyday life that our spiritual connection is strengthened, helping each of us to participate even more actively in the life of our beloved united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
