The Jewish Educational Media (JEM) YouTube channel has released a special film, “Chof Av – Special Presentation,” dedicated to the 20th of Av – the yahrzeit of the great tzaddik, Chief Rabbi of Yekaterinoslav-Dnepropetrovsk from 1909 to 1939, Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, father of the leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
For the Jewish Community of Dnipro, this date holds special significance. It was in our city that Rabbi Levi Yitzchak served as Chief Rabbi for many years, selflessly defending Jewish life during the years of harsh Soviet persecution. Despite constant pressure from the communist regime, arrest, torture, exile, and the most severe trials, he continued to serve his people and create unique works on Torah and Kabbalah, which became an invaluable legacy of Jewish thought.
We are pleased to present to our readers this unique film prepared by JEM. It tells the story of the life of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, his spiritual heroism, his selfless struggle to preserve Yiddishkeit in the Soviet Union, and his immense contribution to Jewish heritage. Special attention is given to the place that the memory of his father held in the life of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who would annually hold a special farbrengen in his honor on the day of the yahrzeit.
