Another men’s Torah class at the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which has been actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislina family, was dedicated to the weekly portion of Re’eh—which reveals the significance of freedom of choice, personal responsibility, and the conscious path that leads to blessing.
The speaker for the gathering was Reb Zalman Rabinovich, who offered the participants a detailed study of Parshas Re’eh, which opens with a call to see that before every person, two paths are laid out each day. During the discussion, special attention was given to the fact that life consists not only of fateful decisions but also of countless daily choices that determine a man’s attitude toward his family, those around him, the observance of mitzvos, and his own spiritual values.
The participants spoke about freedom of choice and personal responsibility, reflecting on how even the most difficult circumstances do not deprive a person of the ability to determine their next step. Special emphasis was placed on the idea that blessing comes when a person consciously chooses the right path and confirms their choice through concrete actions.
A separate topic of the gathering was the 20th of Av—the day of the passing of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, father of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe and Chief Rabbi of our city from 1909 to 1939. The participants recalled his faithfulness to Torah, his spiritual fortitude, and his readiness to preserve Jewish life even during years of harsh persecution, noting that his life’s example vividly embodies the ideals of Parshas Re’eh: loyalty to one’s principles and responsibility for the choices one makes.
“The study of Parshas Re’eh helps men to more deeply understand that blessing begins with daily choices, faithfulness to one’s values, and a willingness to confirm them through action,” said Levi Zislina, director of the “Menorah Community” project. “It is through the study of Torah, conscious choice, and the aspiration to live according to its teachings that our spiritual connection is strengthened—helping each of us to participate even more actively in the life of our beloved united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
