At the “Beit Tzindlicht” children’s educational center—a leading preschool institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro—an educational meeting took place between the students and staff of the Jewish Medical Center “JMC.” It continued a series of events in which children are introduced to various important professions, learn about their role in society, and through direct interaction, discover the world they are growing up in. Following a recent meeting with officers of the National Police of Ukraine, the guests of the preschool were healthcare professionals, who introduced the children to one of the most humane and responsible professions.
During the meeting, the children learned why it is so important to take care of their health, follow hygiene rules, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The medical professionals spoke about their profession, showed the children how an ambulance works, and demonstrated medical equipment, explaining the purpose of various devices and instruments. The children were especially fascinated by the opportunity to try on various medical items themselves—shoe covers, gloves, medical caps, and other protective gear—feeling like real doctors.
The highlight of the meeting was the introduction to the ambulance of the Jewish Medical Center. The children had the chance to carefully examine the specialized medical vehicle, learn how it is equipped, see the equipment that helps doctors save lives, and ask numerous questions. This unique meeting was led by Oksana Stovbun, a nurse-anesthetist at the Jewish Medical Center “JMC,” and Reuven Rodinsky, a “JMC” medical assistant and third-year medical university student. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere helped the children not only learn many new things but also understand how important knowledge, responsibility, and the desire to help others truly are.
“It is very important for children not just to hear about the medical profession but to see with their own eyes the people who help others every day, saving health and lives,” said preschool teacher Naomi Chaya Yavorskaya. “It was especially meaningful and touching for us that our guest at ‘Beit Tzindlicht’ was our own graduate, Reuven Rodinsky, who from a young age, proud of his renowned parents—famous doctors of Dnipro—said he too would become a doctor and help people. Now, warmly engaging with the children, he showed how the infrastructure of the Jewish Community of Dnipro helps people realize themselves in the most diverse fields. It is very important to show children that our ‘Beit Tzindlicht’ is part of a larger structure, with educational, social, medical, and cultural institutions covering all areas of life. And for creating this unique ecosystem, which gives everyone the opportunity to live a full Jewish life, we say with deep emotion and from the bottom of our hearts, every day, words of gratitude to our beloved, united, and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
