The bar mitzvah of Sholom Dovber Neumann, son of the esteemed Rabbi Moishe Neumann and his wife Dvora, became a special event for the family, relatives, friends, and the entire Jewish community of Dnipro. The festive evening took place in the luxurious Menorah Ballroom of the largest Jewish center, “Menorah,” and combined a formal ceremony, words of blessing, Torah study, and, of course, many joyful Chassidic dances.
The evening began with opening remarks by Rav Moishe Neumann, after which the guests heard the letter of blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson for the bar mitzvah. The letter was read in the original language by Menachem Mendel Goldschmidt, with its translation delivered by Rav Yom Tov Shufotinsky. Following this, all those present were able to fulfill the mitzvah of tzedakah and watch a video address of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
A special place in the program was given to a Chassidic niggun, after which Sholom Dovber recited from memory the maamar “Isa b’Midrash Tehillim,” dedicated to the importance of the mitzvah of tefillin and the spiritual responsibility of Jewish adulthood. This became an important part of his entry into a new stage of Jewish life – a time when a young man becomes obligated to independently observe the mitzvos and delve even deeper into Torah and Chassidic teaching. After the maamar, the first Chassidic dances began, filling the celebration with joy.
The evening continued with a festive meal. A rabbi addressed the guests, followed by a screening of a video clip dedicated to Sholom Dovber. A warm blessing to his grandson was given by his grandfather Shimon, after which a niggun by Rabbi Moishe Goldschmidt was performed. The festive atmosphere was once again carried by Chassidic dances, which continued late into the evening.
The Jewish Community of Dnipro and our website warmly congratulate Rabbi Moishe Neumann, Rebbetzin Dvora, and the entire family on Sholom Dovber’s bar mitzvah, and wish him to bring glory to his family by becoming a Torah sage and a renowned Chassid, to bring much nachas to the Rebbe, and to come to Torah, Chuppah, and good deeds.
