In July, two sessions of the all-Ukrainian festival for children and teenagers “DACHA VDOMA” took place in Zakarpattia, organized by the “Sokhnut-Ukraine” Branch. This summer, the festival brought together participants from various parts of Ukraine — Dnipro, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and other cities. Children and teenagers enjoyed thematic programs, creative workshops, quests, team adventures, and many bright moments that made these summer days truly unforgettable.
“First, the session for participants aged 6–13 took place from July 8 to 15,” said Alexandra Katok, Coordinator of Youth Programs at “Sokhnut-Ukraine.
This time, the younger participants embarked on a real journey through Israel! They were treated to exciting adventures, themed evening events, quests, and detective stories where they needed to demonstrate ingenuity, attentiveness, and teamwork.
Each day was filled with new discoveries. The children took part in lessons and workshops, tried their hand at various activities, socialized, and, of course, simply had fun together with friends and madrichim.
Then, from July 20 to 28, the older session participants — aged 14–17 — gathered in Zakarpattia.
This time, the teenagers became part of a real television company! Everyone could choose a profile that interested them most and use it to explore various Jewish themes. The festival thus became a space where one could not only learn new things but also try oneself in different roles, create personal projects, and work together.
At the start of the session, the participants were also welcomed by Binyamin Hadad, Head of the “Sokhnut-Ukraine” Branch Representation in Ukraine and Moldova, who wished them a vibrant festival, new acquaintances, and unforgettable experiences.
Throughout the session, the teenagers enjoyed interesting specialized workshops, activities, and evening events. The highlight was a nighttime quest – an adventure that added a touch of mystery, excitement, and true team spirit to the festival.
And the real summer vibe was enhanced by a water battle and a colorful Holi powder battle – moments when staying dry and clean was practically impossible! A special part of both sessions was the Shabbos celebration. The white dress code, warm atmosphere, shared time together, and the feeling of a real family made this evening special and unforgettable.
This summer gave us many bright moments, and there are even more festivals ahead!”
