At the “Beit Tzindlicht” children’s educational center, a leading preschool institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, a joint children’s farbrengen was held, dedicated to the yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson – mother of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, one of the outstanding righteous women of the Jewish people, whose life became an example of deep faith, self-sacrifice, and devotion to Jewish values. In a format accessible to preschoolers, the educators introduced the children to important chapters of her biography, showing how great tzaddikim teach goodness, mercy, and love for one’s fellow through their personal example.
During the farbrengen, the students learned that Rebbetzin Chana throughout her life helped those in need, sharing her clothing and food with them. Through the example of this great righteous woman, the children saw that true care for people is expressed first and foremost in concrete good deeds. To better understand this idea, they took part in a themed game, sorting clothing and food items that could be given to those in need of help.
Special attention was given to the story of Rebbetzin Chana’s deep spiritual connection with her son – the leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The children learned that during the years of nearly twenty years of separation, they supported one another through letters, and after their long-awaited reunion, the Rebbe, as a loving and respectful son, would come to his mother every day to brew her tea, showing deep respect, love, and filial care. These stories helped the students see that a person’s greatness is manifested not only in their spiritual leadership but also in the everyday fulfillment of mitzvos, respect for parents, and attentiveness to loved ones. The farbrengen concluded with listening to and dancing together to the niggun “Hakafos” – the niggun of the great tzaddik, the husband of Rebbetzin Chana and father of the Rebbe, the renowned Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson. The sounds of this niggun created the special atmosphere of this memorable day.
“We strive to ensure that children from an early age become acquainted not only with Jewish holidays and commemorative dates but also with the lives of the great tzaddikim, who by their example show what a true Jew should be,” said preschool teacher Malka Averbukh. “In telling them about Rebbetzin Chana, we want the children to see how faith, kindness, care for one’s fellow, respect for parents, and devotion to Jewish tradition are manifested in everyday life. It is on such examples that the future members of our community are raised, and for the opportunity to raise children in such an atmosphere, we sincerely thank the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
