For the students of the “Beit LeBanим” boys’ boarding school of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, a special spiritual trip to Hadiach was organized on the eve of Rosh Hashanah – to the ohel of the founder of the Chabad movement, the First Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, known as the Alter Rebbe.
Visiting the resting places of great Jewish tzaddikim before important dates on the Jewish calendar has become a good tradition of the “Beit LeBanим” boarding school. Such trips give the students the opportunity to directly touch the spiritual heritage of Chassidus, to feel more deeply the connection between generations, and to prepare for the holidays not only through classes and the study of Jewish tradition but also through personal spiritual experience.
In Hadiach, the boys, under the guidance of Rabbi David Vaskovsky, visited the ohel of the Alter Rebbe and prayed at the resting place of the great tzaddik on the eve of the year 5787. For the boarding school students, this trip became an important part of spiritual preparation for Rosh Hashanah – a time when every Jew takes stock of the passing year and turns to the Almighty with prayer and hope for a good and sweet new year.
The trip of the “Beit LeBanим” students to Hadiach was made possible thanks to the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, great friend of the boarding school Emmanuil Sydorenko, and Dayana Goldenzon.
“It is very important to us that before Rosh Hashanah the boys are able to come to such a holy place as the ohel of the Alter Rebbe, to pray and spiritually prepare for the arrival of the new year,” said Rabbi David Vaskovsky, director of the boarding school. “We try, before important dates on the Jewish calendar, to organize such trips for our students, and we are very grateful to Dayana Goldenzon, the great friend of our boarding school, the esteemed Mr. Emmanuil Sydorenko, and our beloved united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
