Dear friends, it is with deep sorrow that we announce the funeral of Moishe Varshavsky, which will take place today, Sunday, the 9th of Tishrei (September 20), at 12:15 PM at the Zaporizhzhia Cemetery.
Moishe Varshavsky was an honorary veteran of the Chevra Kadisha and a respected member of the Jewish community of Dnipro. We would have very much liked to hold a large farewell ceremony for him at the Pchelkin House, but today is the eve of Yom Kippur, and we are bound to observe Jewish law. The Shulchan Aruch teaches that burial should not be delayed and also decrees that eulogies are not delivered on the eve of Yom Kippur. Therefore, we will conduct the funeral directly at the cemetery and in a more abbreviated manner. We do this not out of a lack of respect, but precisely out of respect for Moishe and for Halakha.
May his soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life.
