The “Menorah Community” youth project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which has been actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislina family, held another women’s class dedicated to the period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – the Ten Days of Repentance, inner renewal, and spiritual preparation for the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.
The speaker for the gathering was Daniella Listengurt, who invited the participants to reflect more deeply on the significance of the Ten Days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – a special time given to a person for teshuvah, for rethinking one’s actions, for forgiveness, and for striving to draw closer to the spiritual state to which the Torah calls us.
During the session, the participants reflected on how inner work on oneself helps a woman free herself from what hinders spiritual growth, why teshuvah becomes an inseparable part of preparation for Yom Kippur, and how a woman can enter this holy day with a lighter heart and a sincere striving for correction.
Special attention was given to understanding that the Ten Days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are a time of special spiritual awe before the Almighty, when every good decision, prayer, and inner effort helps a person take yet another step on the path of spiritual improvement.
“It was very important for the girls to see that these Ten Days are given to a person not only for reflection on the past year, but first and foremost for inner renewal, teshuvah, and conscious preparation for Yom Kippur,” said Esti Zislina, co-director of the project. “Such gatherings help us understand more deeply the meaning of this special period, inspire spiritual growth, the fulfillment of mitzvos, and work on oneself, strengthening our beloved united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
