On one of the days of Chol HaMoed Sukkot, the teachers of the Jewish Lyceum No. 144 named after Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, a leading educational institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, were invited to the sukkah of the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminezki, to feel together the joy of the holiday, to socialize outside the usual school routine, and, on the eve of their professional holiday, to receive new strength and inspiration.
The gathering began with a welcoming coffee break, after which Daniela Listengurt – a well-known lecturer of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, an educator, and a mother of six children – addressed the teachers. It was no coincidence that the main theme of her talk with the teachers was joy as one of the most important components of the holiday of Sukkot.
Special attention in the discussion was given to the tremendous significance of the teaching profession, which is not limited to mere work but is a mission, a great responsibility, and an opportunity to influence daily the formation of each child’s personality, and consequently, the future of our entire world.
The gathering continued with a special festive banquet in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and one of the warmest moments was a video greeting that the lyceum students had prepared for their teachers for their professional holiday. The opportunity to spend this day together, to socialize, to rejoice in Sukkot, and to feel themselves part of a single team gave the teachers a wonderful mood, new strength, and a multitude of vivid emotions.
“The participants spoke about the mitzvah of joy on Sukkot and about how to preserve this joy not only during the festive days but also in everyday life, which helps a person restore their strength, notice the good amid daily concerns, and share their inner light with those around them,” said Olena Krasnova, director of the Jewish Lyceum. “We sincerely thank the Jewish Community of Dnipro for this wonderful gift to our teachers, for their constant care and support, and to the Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki for his hospitality and the opportunity to hold this wonderful gathering in his sukkah, which gave our teachers strength and inspiration in their most important mission of educating and raising the new generation.”
