The popular program of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, “Avot uBanim” (Fathers and Sons), whose goal is to strengthen the connection between generations through the study of Jewish religious texts, has announced the start of its work in the new season.
The program’s director, Rabbi David Vaskovsky, announced that classes will take place on Mondays at 7:00 PM, after the Maariv prayer at the central “Golden Rose” Synagogue.
“This season we will be studying the discourses of the Lubavitcher Rebbe,” emphasized Rabbi David Vaskovsky. “It is very important that fathers and sons study Torah together, and that this happen not occasionally but regularly, at least once a week at a specially designated time. Even if the father attends Torah classes for adults and the children study at school or yeshiva, this does not replace specifically family learning. It is very important that this time be constant and recurring, so that it becomes a psychologically significant ritual that shapes the proper family atmosphere.”
