A retro-musical about dreams and love.
Synopsis:
The events of the musical unfold across several time dimensions. The grandson of the main character, Solomon Shklyar, comes to his hometown, to his grandfather’s old apartment. He intends to quickly sell this property.
But unexpectedly, he is met by those he had heard about since childhood. Ghosts from the past tell Sem the true story behind the creation of Solomon Shklyar’s Dance School, which in the early 20th century enjoyed wild success and became a real sensation in the city.
Thus begins a journey through time.
And who is Solomon Shklyar?
A barber who lost the most precious thing – his wife, Golda. Depressed by the loss, he doesn’t know how to go on living. And it is then that fate gives him a chance. The famous, extravagant choreographer Vera Abramovich-Dembska comes to Solomon. She convinces him to open a dance school, and from that moment, a series of sincere, funny, and sometimes touching events begins.
In this school, the love between the dreamer Mikhail and the orphan Rachel blossoms, while the rebel Basya shatters the plans of her wealthy father Mendelsohn for a profitable marriage. Thus, through music, laughter, and dance, the city of a bygone era comes to life, where the legend of Solomon Shklyar’s Dance School was born.”
