The event announcement states:
“This time — ‘The White Bird Marked with Black’ (1970), a film that became both an artistic and ideological breakthrough during a time of strict censorship. At our previous meetings, the names Ivan Mykolaichuk and Yuri Illienko were often mentioned — these are the artists behind the creation of a film considered one of the pinnacles of Ukrainian poetic cinema.
It is the story of a family divided by war, and at the same time — a symbol of the great drama that Ukraine experienced during the turbulent 20th century. The film explores love, brotherhood, and the choice between personal desires and historical destiny.
A movie that makes you not only watch but truly feel. And, most importantly — remember.
This screening is not just a meeting with a film. It is a continuation of the dialogue about who we were, who we are, and who we aspire to become.
Come to watch, reflect, and feel together — because the classics of Ukrainian cinema are not just the past; they are our deep, living present.”
