The organizers report: “Reading the Haggadah for Jews is the main part of the festive dinner on Passover. Previously, Ukrainian Jews conducted these readings in Hebrew or Russian. The All-Ukrainian Women’s Jewish Organization “Project Kesher” initiated the creation of a printed version of the Haggadah in Ukrainian. The book “Haggad for Passover “For Our Freedom”” is a kind of bridge between different generations of Ukrainian Jews, as well as a component of the process of Ukrainization of the Jewish community of Ukraine, as an integral part of Ukrainian society. The book was published by the publishing house “Dukh i Litera” in the first edition of 1000 copies in the spring of 2024, and is distributed free of charge in Ukrainian Jewish communities, libraries, academic communities studying Judaism, etc. The presentation of the publication will be attended by members of the author’s group, representatives of the All-Ukrainian Women’s Jewish Organization “Project Kesher”, public and religious activists, etc.

The second part of the event is scheduled to feature the animated film “Bobe Mayses” (“Grandma’s Tales”) – an outstanding example of Ukrainian animation, created based on the Jewish folklore of the Dnieper region. The author of the film, created in 1993 by the film company “MaGiKa-Film”, is Ukrainian director, animator, and screenwriter Olena Kasavina. In the year of its premiere, “Bobe Mayses” was recognized as the best animated film in Ukraine, and in 2024, the characters of the cartoon began to speak in Ukrainian – in the voice of Ada Rogovtseva.
