The Jewish community deeply mourns the passing of our great friend Robert Gordon.

Sad news has arrived from the United States: the soul of one of the outstanding Jewish leaders, a great friend of the Jewish community of Dnipro since the early years of its revival, the founder in 1974 of the movement in support of Jews in the USSR—Action for Soviet Jewry—the respected and beloved Robert Gordon, has departed this material world.

Robert Gordon was at the forefront of the sister-city relationship between the Jewish community of Greater Boston and the Jewish community of Dnipro, created and developed the Kehila Project, and despite his extraordinary workload leading Boston’s leading Jewish organizations, where he served on the most important committees and held the most responsible and significant positions, he visited our city on numerous occasions, providing significant assistance in the development of the community. Always by his side was his most devoted friend and wife, the esteemed Mrs. Doris Gordon.

The passing of Robert Gordon is a tremendous loss not only for the Boston Jewish community, but also for the Jewish Community of Dnipro. Our great friend has passed away, and we mourn him, and the memory of his good deeds will forever remain in our hearts in the history of Jewish communities. The Jewish Community of Dnipro and our website express our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Baruch Dayan HaEmet!

Blessed is the righteous Judge!
May Robert Gordon’s soul ascend to Gan Eden, may the Almighty number it among the righteous, shelter it under the wings of His Shechinah, and may his memory be blessed
