The main event of the seventh evening of Hanukkah in Dnipro was the lighting of candles on the city’s main Hanukkah, installed in the world’s largest Jewish center, “Menorah”.
The host of the main Hanukkah lighting ceremony, Reb Shlomo Tereshkevich, congratulated everyone present on the holiday and invited them to watch a video of the Head of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem-Mendel Schneerson.
The Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezky, warmly greeted everyone who came to the holiday and invited a respected member of the Dnipro Jewish community, Shlomo Chertok and his sons, to light the candles on the seventh evening of Hanukkah, who actively helps many Jewish revival projects.
After lighting the Hanukkah, Shlomo Chertok addressed the Jewish community of Dnipro with appropriate blessings, wishing everyone a great increase in spiritual light in the world, so that the Hanukkah candles would illuminate and give spiritual strength to everyone until the next Hanukkah.
At the second Hanukkah in the center’s Gallery, the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s envoy, Rabbi Moishe Listengurt, lit festive candles with appropriate blessings.
A special feature of this day was the blessing of the kohens, which was read by the Chief Rabbi of Zaporizhzhia, Nochum Erentroy, and his two sons, who visited Dnipro during the days of the Hanukkah holiday to celebrate Shabbaton.
The festive mood for all those present was created by the performance of a klezmer band, which performed popular Hanukkah and Jewish melodies. Many special activities were organized for children – face painting, various games, master classes and much more. Everyone who came to the holiday was able to taste Hanukkah treats and take part in a lottery with valuable prizes, among which, in addition to the traditional large sums of money, there were also special kosher food gifts from the Prasolov and Laktionov families.
