A Major Campaign in the Dnipro Jewish Community – Holiday Gifts from JRNU for Rosh Hashanah

The Jewish Community of Dnipro held a large-scale campaign, distributing one thousand gift packages for Rosh Hashanah and the other holidays of the month of Tishrei, provided by the charitable organization Jewish Relief Network Ukraine.

The festive sets included honey for Rosh Hashanah, lekach (the traditional honey cake eaten before Yom Kippur), as well as a variety of Jewish literature, among them a unique brochure prepared by JRNU – “A Guide to the Holidays of the Month of Tishrei, September 22 – October 15, 2025.” These gifts were received not only by vulnerable categories of the population – displaced persons, families with children, religious households – but also by participants of the actively developing youth project “Menorah Community” of the Dnipro Jewish Community, led by the dedicated efforts of the Zislin family, as well as members and activists of the community.

A festive ceremony of distribution took place at the “Dom Pcholkin,” where Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki, delivered a heartfelt address. He emphasized the deep gratitude of the city’s Jews to JRNU, whose support enables the community to celebrate the holidays with dignity and joy, while sustaining numerous projects of Jewish revival. Following his words, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki sounded the shofar for everyone present, bringing special inspiration to the elderly and those in need of particular care and attention.

For the convenience of community members, additional distribution points were organized in Jewish educational institutions and synagogues across the city. For those unable to come in person, such as the residents of the “Beit Baruch” Jewish Home for the Elderly, representatives of the community personally delivered the holiday packages directly to their rooms, filling the atmosphere with joy and the spiritual light of the upcoming holidays. Each recipient was blessed with the traditional wish to be inscribed in the Book of Life.

“Thanks to the support of Jewish Relief Network Ukraine, thousands of Jewish families received both information about the holidays and the traditional items needed to celebrate them,” said Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki. “These gifts are incredibly important for strengthening the connection with the Jewish community, reminding every Jew in our city that they are remembered, valued, and always awaited in our united and close-knit Jewish Community of Dnipro, led by our Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
