On the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5787, the Jewish Community of Dnipro is holding a large-scale distribution of festive gift packages from the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine. Over 2,000 boxes containing everything necessary for celebrating the Jewish New Year are intended for community members and participants in its numerous programs.
Each festive package combines the traditional symbols of Rosh Hashanah with materials that help one celebrate the holiday in accordance with Jewish tradition. The boxes contain honey and grape juice, a small symbolic shofar for children, a special water bottle, as well as a large quantity of festive informational and printed materials, including a calendar for the new year and convenient magnets with the dates of Jewish holidays and commemorative days for 5787.
This large-scale distribution enables more than two thousand Jewish families of Dnipro to receive the necessary attributes of the holiday, become familiar with its mitzvos and customs, and prepare for Rosh Hashanah. The Federation’s gift boxes help fill the holiday with traditional meaning and give each recipient the opportunity to feel their unbreakable connection to their spiritual tradition and to the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.
The Jewish Community of Dnipro expresses its sincere gratitude to the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine and its leader, Rabbi Meir Tzvi Stambler, for their many years of comprehensive support of Jewish life, ongoing care for Jewish families, and tremendous work in preserving and strengthening Jewish tradition.
“On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine does everything possible to ensure that the holiday reaches Jewish homes in every corner of our country: this year, festive packages were received by about 50 thousand Jewish families in 169 communities of Ukraine, and over a thousand packages were delivered to our brothers and sisters who are currently serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” noted Rabbi Meir Tzvi Stambler, Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine. “We want the sound of the shofar to bring every Jew a new and sweet year, filled with peace and hope, so that the Almighty hears our prayers and we merit the complete and true Redemption with the coming of Moshiach.”
